About EEV
Environment Education Victoria (EEV) is the Victorian chapter of the National Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE). We are a not-for-profit, membership based organisation situated in Carlton, Victoria and are seeking a leader to ensure our strategic plans, change agenda and member services are successfully designed and achieved to drive and maintain sustainability.

Environment Education Victoria promotes the development of environmental and sustainability education and is an independent voice for this sector. We believe in active, aware and sustainable communities that are supported by a professional association that connects people and organisations to develop capacity for enriched, sustainable lives.

Our dynamic organisation engages our members with events that are reflective of their professional needs.

We support new and experienced VCE Environmental Science teachers through networks, professional development sessions, an online forum and VCE text books.

We successfully deliver of a range of programs including: Department of Education’s Strategic Partnerships Professional Learning Program and ResourceSmart Schools in the Western Metropolitan Melbourne.

About the role
We are looking for an inspirational and visionary leader, with a background in environmental or sustainability education, to continue to build our association. You will have strong financial and people leadership skills with existing professional networks across Victoria and throughout Australia. You will be committed to working in collaboration, with AAEE and other partners, to expand the reach of environmental education in schools and the community.

As Executive Officer, you will actively market and otherwise promote EEV to build its membership base and profile, through the development and delivery of a range of valued activities and services for members.

You will lead a motivated and committed team, and you will be responsible for ensuring the organisation’s strategic plans, change agenda and member services are successfully designed and achieved to drive and maintain sustainability of the organisation.

Centrally located in the 60L Green building in Carlton, this three year contract role is four days per week with flexible working arrangements available.

What you will need to be successful

  • Experience as an educator in the environmental and/or sustainability space is highly desirable.
  • Experience in positioning a sustainability or education organisation through the use of networks, local national and international, to amplify its impact.
  • A highly inspiring, respectful, agile and collaborative individual with a proven ability to influence, effectively negotiate and advocate.
  • Strong understanding of governance and management principles, including strategic planning, compliance, risk management and financial management.
