Our secondary school in the Macedon Ranges is looking for an adventurous, imaginative, innovative outdoor educator for 2020. This is a full-time position for at least twelve months, quite possibly longer, and requires an experienced person with strong leadership skills. A cross between Bear Grylls, Jane Goodall, Phurba Tashionce would be… okay, enough of that: basically we want someone who can think big, but who can also attend to a kid who turns up for a hike from Howitt to Speculation wearing cotton socks and a pair of patent leather shoes…

We run an ambitious but ever-changing ever-challenging variety of outdoor activities, which in recent years has included cross-country skiing, canoeing, bike camps, rock climbing and of course hiking (everywhere from Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair to parts of the Larapinta Trail). Currently we have three groups spread between Poland, Slovakia and Germany, where they’ll hike through Tatra National Park and have a couple of weeks on bikes. But of course not all our outdoor activities are as glamorous as that!

Experience in teaching VCE Outdoor Education and Environmental Science is necessary.

Experience in teaching other subjects, particularly in the maths/science area and/or PE, would also be viewed favourably!

We are an independent non-religious non-systemic coeducational school with about 200 students.

Applications must be emailed to Sarita Ryan at sarita.ryan@alicemiller.school, and must be accompanied by names and contact details of at least three professional referees.

Thanks! We look forward to hearing from you.

Applications close: Wednesday, 30 October 2019.
