The Uniting Church in Australia is the third largest Christian denomination in Australia. The Synod of Victoria and Tasmania supports over 600 congregations and presbyteries in the region, providing a diverse range of services and functions, including mission services as well as financial, property and business services.

The Uniting Church Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, through the Uniting Church Camping Unit within the equipping Leadership for Mission (eLM) Unit, operates several group accommodation venues (campsites) throughout Victoria. These include Adekate Lodge Creswick, Acacia Campsite Halls Gap, Grampians Wonderland Cabins Halls Gap, Norval House and Lodge Halls Gap, Grantville Lodge and Merricks Lodge.

About the role
UC Camping (UCC) operates several group accommodation venues (campsites) throughout Victoria, including Norval and Acacia Lodge, in Halls Gap.

UCC is seeking a highly motivated, experienced and qualified person to fill the position of Program Manager. The sites provide group accommodation and hospitality for up to 300 guests, coming from a broad range of user groups. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the value of education outdoors and the camping experiences.

This is a full-time permanent position with a preference for the Program Manager to live on-site. An attractive remuneration package is being offered.

The successful applicant will work as part of the UC Camping team and be responsible for the delivery of the Outdoor Education programs at our Halls Gap sites and support program at Adekate Lodge. The role provides a diverse work environment and includes managerial and operational tasks, including some ‘on call’ work.

The successful candidate will be able to develop and lead a team, manage external contractors and develop strong relationships with our guests. The ability to work as part of the UC Camping general management team is critical.

About you
To secure this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Outdoor Education/Recreation or a related field (e.g. Environmental Science, Nature Based tourism), or agreed equivalent experience
  • Proven successful experience in a related role of similar scope and complexity
  • Formal certifications/qualifications in Bushwalking, Challenge Ropes Course. Certifications/qualifications in other disciplines highly desirable, for example: Climbing/Abseiling, Mountain Biking, and Paddling.
