About the branch
The Regional Victoria Division is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Regional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities.

The Western Basalt District comprises a diversity of cultural and environmental assets including the Brisbane Ranges National Park, Lederberg and Werribee Gorge State Parks, You Yangs Regional Park, Macedon Regional Park, Steiglitz Historic Park, Serendip Sanctuary, Lake Connewarre State Game Reserve, Mt Buangor State Park, Enfield State Park, Hepburn Regional Park and numerous other reserves. The District manages over 50,000 hectares with over 900,000 visitors per year, offering a range of passive and active recreational opportunities in diverse settings. This position will be primarily supporting the Ballarat area and be based at Macedon Regional Park.

About the role and your responsibilities
As the Field Service Officer, you will deliver in park services as directed by the Ranger Team Leader to enable efficient and effective delivery at a district level in accordance with the Annual Business Plan. Your primary responsibility of this position will be to support the delivery of on ground works including but not limited to the maintenance of assets, infrastructure, and facilities; and the field delivery of environmental projects. You will undertake Fire and Emergency response activities in accordance with requirements and level of training.

In this role, you will also be accountable for personal performance and will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic. You will actively participate in a team environment and ensure that the overall success of the team is an outcome of individual success. This role requires you to be adaptable and flexible to on the ground service requirements to ensure superior park management services are achieved always.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Natural Resource Management and/or equivalent experience in a similar field.
  • Plant, chainsaw and machinery operation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A current employee Working with Children Check
