National Parks and Wildlife Service has an exciting opportunity to join the Bourke Area leadership team and support the delivery of the National Parks Maintenance Program.

With the support of a senior field supervisor, you’ll work closely with rangers in setting planning priorities and identifying and prioritising works programs to maintain and improve park assets.

We are looking for hard working, reliable individuals with strong project management and team supervision skills.

About the role
Some supervision and co-ordination of work crews including contractors may be required along with associated administrative and record keeping duties. You’ll also be relied upon to assist with the construction and maintenance of visitor areas, protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage sites, operation and maintenance of plant and equipment, liaise with visitors, safety audits and implement fire and pest and weed management activities. Your duties may require manual handling.

To be considered for the role you must meet the below essential requirements:

  • Current drivers/MR licence and ability to operate 4WD vehicles up to 4.5 tonnes/15 tonne GVM.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to carry out duties safely.
  • Willingness to obtain relevant SafeWork NSW certification to appropriately operate and maintain minor plant and equipment along with a willingness to obtain a First Aid certificate.
  • Certification, or ability to obtain certification within the first 6 months of employment, to operate a chainsaw to crosscut standard; ability to operate two-way radio.

The role will support delivery of a stimulus funded program that was announced in late 2020 by the NSW Government. This funding – provided to create jobs and grow the NSW economy – will focus on the maintenance, repair and restoration of visitor and park management infrastructure as well as weeding and landscaping in key locations to improve the local environment, enhance the visitor experience and support local tourism.
