The primary purpose of this role is to work with a team of Outdoor Educators and College teaching staff to assist the Head of Outdoor and Experiential Education (HOEE) in the development and implementation of the Outdoor Education program.

This is a permanent full-time position.

Key Duties:
In consultation with the HOEE, the overarching responsibilities of the Outdoor Education Coordinator are to:

  • develop, coordinate, and deliver sequential, innovative, and exceptional OED programs for students in years 2 to 10
  • manage a portfolio of Outdoor Education (OED) programs at the discretion of the HOEE
  • foster a positive and successful environment for student and staff excellence.

To be successful in this opportunity you will require: 

  • Either current VIT Registration or current Victorian Working with Children Check.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications or OED qualifications relevant to the design, delivery and evaluation of OED programs e.g. Bachelor of Outdoor Education, Bachelor of Outdoor Leadership/Recreation, Cert IV in Outdoor Leadership or higher relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Extensive working knowledge in the OED industry, including best practice and experience
  • Understanding of the role of OED programs as part of the co-curricular offerings in schools
  • Experience with leading young people on multi-day remote wilderness journey-based adventures and residential activity-based programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills including experience leading and managing staff
  • Strong organisational skills including experience in managing financial components of programs
  • Be available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and during non-term periods
  • Confident in use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other technologies
  • Be an active contributor to a collegial work environment
  • Willingness to uphold the ethos and values of the College.
