Ironbark Outdoor Education Centre
Fixed-term position from August – December 2022

Wanting to gain some experience in the Outdoor Education industry but can’t find a way in?

St Peters Lutheran College is seeking two GAP Year Placements (one male, one female) for ‘Ironbark’, the college’s 600 hectare outdoor education centre located near Crows Nest, approximately 2¼ hours north-west of Brisbane.

The school runs 5 week courses throughout the year for the Year 9 students, in a natural bush environment, incorporating community living, outdoor adventure activities and working farm.

The GAP Placements will assist all aspects of the Ironbark program including dormitory supervision, farm work, outdoor adventure activities and catering. Accommodation is provided onsite in shared accommodation along with meals and a fortnightly living allowance. Training will be provided for the successful applicants to assist all aspects of the Ironbark experience.

The only qualifications needed are a driver’s licence and a ‘Working with Children’ Blue Card or ability to attain one.

Applicants must be willing to:

  • work some long hours and some weekends
  • assist groups on expeditions and campouts.
  • work a combination of day or night shifts across a 5 week roster.

These positions can either be short-term contracts until the end of 2022 or longer if you would like to undertake formal training in the Outdoor sector.
