About the Role
Brisbane Girls Grammar School’s dedicated Outdoor Education campus, the Marrapatta Memorial Outdoor Education Centre, is a picturesque campus nestled in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, just two hours north of Brisbane. Marrapatta creates a space for immersive and engaging educational experiences beyond the classroom.

The School is currently seeking applications for an experienced full-time teacher specialising in Outdoor Education to join the dedicated team at the Marrapatta campus. If you have a deep commitment to inspiring students through engaging outdoor learning, we encourage you to apply.

Your key responsibilities as an Outdoor Education Teacher will include:

  • leading and inspiring students through the delivery of the Outdoor Education Program
  • supporting personal growth and the residential care of students, including overnight and campout locations
  • supervising and guiding students (individual and group facilitation) during outdoor pursuits including canoeing, bushwalking, mountain biking and challenge ropes course experiences
  • following the procedures for ensuring the health and wellbeing of students in the residential setting, including the promoting of positive relationships, medication and allergy management, dietary requirements and first aid
  • involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme
  • assisting in the planning, administration, resource production and preparation of all activities.

You will also have:

  • current Queensland College of Teachers registration (or eligibility to apply)
  • comprehensive understanding of outdoor pedagogies and expertise in the delivery of an Outdoor Education Program
  • relevant instructional certificates in a range of outdoor pursuits including canoeing, bushwalking, mountain biking and challenge ropes courses
  • ability to follow procedures to ensure the health and wellbeing of students, including dispensing of medication, management of allergies and dietary requirements, and promotion of positive relationships
  • ability to work collaboratively and energetically within a high-performing school culture
  • experience in driving a four-wheel drive vehicle off-road
  • Wilderness First Aid qualification
  • Manual Driver’s License.
