About the role

The purpose of this role is to provide advice and support for the development of reserve plans for protected areas and a range of planning tools, for the Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS).

The position will manage a project to prepare an updated management plan and biosecurity plan for the Macquarie Island Nature Reserve in accordance with legislation and the PWS planning system and deliver the Divisions’ strategic priorities.

Desirable requirements

  • A graduate qualification relevant to the duties to be undertaken, as provided by a university, in a discipline relevant to science, environmental planning, recreational planning or natural resource management.
  • Post graduate qualification in geographical information systems, spatial analysis and/ or natural area recreation planning.
  • Relevant experience in the management of sub-antarctic reserve areas or similar reserves. Land management experience would be an advantage.
