Duties/Abilities
This role’s focus area is the day to day management of mostly State forest estate around the Inglewood, Texas and Moonie areas. Rangers work closely with the Department of Agriculture and Forestry (DAF) forestry rangers (who work out of the same work base) to collaboratively manage State forest areas for sustainable use. The main outcomes are road maintenance and fire management activities. The Inglewood team manages, maintains and schedules shared use of heavy plant for three bases in the Eastern Downs work unit.

This position is based in Inglewood, however, travel to other locations will be required. This includes overnight stays where accommodation varies from motel accommodation to park barracks to bush camps in remote locations under a range of climatic conditions. Due to some remote locations and difficult to access areas, it is advisable that the successful applicant has a degree of physical fitness that will enable them to hike long distances to conduct search and rescue, pest and fire activities. This position works on a Monday to Friday roster, weekend work may be required to conduct compliance or respond to emergency situations such as wildfires.
