Permanent, full-time position
This role’s focus area is planning and prioritising operational program delivery within the Mulgalands Management Unit. The Senior Ranger position supervises 10 staff managing approximately 574,000 hectares of parks and forests in the channel country of southwest Queensland, including Currawinya National Park (344,000 ha), one of Queensland’s largest and iconic parks.
This position is based in Charleville, however, long distance travel to other locations will be required, where overnight accommodation may vary from motels to park barracks, to bush camps in remote locations under a range of climatic conditions (refer to attached location guides). Due to the remoteness of some locations and difficult to access areas, it is advisable that the successful applicant has a degree of physical fitness that will enable them to hike long distances to conduct search and rescue, pest and fire activities. This position works on a Monday to Friday roster, weekend work may be required to conduct compliance or respond to emergency situations such as wildfires.
