Overview

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Waste Management Officer to join our Waste and Safety Services Team.

This position will provide quality and effective waste education programs that contribute to the Shire of Harvey building a sustainable, low-waste, circular economy in which human health and the environment are protected from the impacts of waste.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification (Environmental Science, Education, Sustainability, Health Promotion, Community Development) or equivalent.
  • Well-developed competency in the use of Microsoft Office and database applications coupled with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Well-developed program and project management, evaluation and problem-solving skills including setting parameters, research, resources and/or methods for delivery of strategic objectives.
  • Financial management/budgeting skills and experience in applying for government grants.
  • Experience working with state government, local government, community groups and academic institutions through community education programs.
  • Awareness of waste minimisation and sustainability issues in Australia and specifically Western Australia.
  • Experience in the delivery of waste education.

Benefits

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government Officers’ (WA) Interim Award 2011 with a salary payable between Level 4 ($61,852) and Level 5 ($70,520) per annum pro-rata, depending on qualifications and experience and benefits such as:

  • Superannuation of 9.50% occupational superannuation from date of commencement, with an opportunity that the Shire will match an employee’s voluntary contribution to their nominated plan provided that employee contributes an amount of at least 5% and/or 6% of their own salary.
  • Part-time position, 32 hours per fortnight located at the Harvey Works Depot.
  • Four weeks pro-rata paid annual leave, including a 17.5% leave loading.
