Salary: $32.73 p/hr + overtime loadings + first aid allowance

Qualifications and experience:

  • Certificate III or IV in Outdoor Leadership or relevant qualifications and experience recognized
  • Minimum  2 years’ experience  in the Outdoor education sector
  • Current certifications in Wilderness/Remote First Aid and CPR
  • Proficiency in Facilitation, Canoeing, Mountain Biking, Hiking, High Ropes
  • QLD Working with Children’s Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain
  • Current driver’s license (Manual and MR is highly desirable)

Higher Ground is thrilled to offer two world-class experiential learning and personal development programmes in 2025, each with a legacy of changing lives. We’re inviting expressions of interest from skilled and passionate staff eager to contribute to these transformative experiences.

About the Programmes

  • Rites Of Passage Programme (RoP): Now in its remarkable 17th year, the RoP is a 28-day immersive experience near the Sunshine Coast. Aimed at Year 9 students from Hong Kong, this programme brings together over 200 students in three groups, engaging them in various outdoor activities across our three centres.
  • Limitless Programme: A profound 42-day adventure, specifically designed for Year 9 students from Hong Kong. This extended programme offers a unique opportunity for participants to explore, grow, and transform in a dynamic outdoor setting.

Your Role

As a vital member of our team, you will co-lead and mentor students through a range of outdoor activities and personal development exercises. This role is not just a job; it’s a chance to inspire and impact young lives, guiding them through experiences that foster growth and self-discovery.

Programme Schedules

  • RoP Programme: 8th July – 15th August 2025 (28 days), including 4 days pre-programme training and approx. 6 rest days. With several start date options within dates above
  • ESF Limitless Programme: 17th May – 27th June 2025 (42 days), with a similar structure of training and rest periods.

Application Process

We are looking for both new and returning staff members who share our vision for either or both programmes. Candidates will be selected based on experience, qualifications, and their ability to connect and work well with co-instructors.
