Trinity Grammar school is offering a unique opportunity for a full-time Outdoor Education Professional who is passionate about combining Outdoor education and Christian Studies education.

Based at our Woollamia Field Studies Centre on the stunning South Coast of NSW, this role is ideal for someone seeking a sea change and a chance to live and work in an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. If you’re ready to combine your love for God’s creation with sharing His word, this could be the perfect position for you.

Our ideal candidate will love working in a close team, enjoy being challenged personally and is motivated by challenging and supporting others to help them reach past their comfort zone. We are looking for an accomplished and thoughtful communicator, adept at engaging students with the Christian gospel and working as a member of the School’s Chaplaincy team, focusing on the students whilst they are at the Field Studies Centre. This ministry is primarily exercised through Chapel services, and various formal and informal contexts in the life of the School. This ministry is aligned with and supportive of the School’s mission, ethos and strategic direction. (Formal teaching registration with NESA is not essential).

Our Outdoor Educators support students in experiencing hiking and wilderness adventures, camping, Mountain bike activities, water-based activities and are immersed in the varied landscapes across the region.

Although Trinity Grammar is a boys only school we are looking for both male and female job applicants who can provide positive role modelling for the students. Our Outdoor Education staff work a rotating roster, leading students in activities including campouts as well as some evenings of overnight supervision. Trinity Grammar’s Field Studies Centre program is a critical part of the Trinity Grammar philosophy of holistic development for our students in Mind, Body and Spirit. It offers our students a residential experience combining academic, pastoral and outdoor education, providing opportunities for creating and building connection to our Christian foundation, community and environment.

Our ideal candidate would have Certificate IV level qualifications or equivalent experience in:

  • Hiking/Navigation
  • Flat Water Canoe
  • Artificial & Natural Surface Climb & Abseil
  • Challenge Ropes Course
  • Mt Biking
  • Group Management
  • Facilitation
  • Wilderness 1st Aid (or willing to obtain)
  • Current NSW WWCC (mandatory).

Desirable qualifications or equivalent experience:

  • Sea Kayaking
  • Light Rigid License (driving history checks will be required)
  • Residential duty of care.

Personal Traits:

  • Willingness to engage with and support the Christian ethos and teachings within the school
  • High levels of professional and personal accountability
  • Team player
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately to both staff and students.
