Are you passionate about Canberra’s history, culture, and environment? Do you have a keen eye for research and the drive to tell the stories about our important places and objects? This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact as a Conservation Officer (Registrations) with ACT Heritage.

As a key member of our team, you’ll be at the forefront of identifying Canberra’s rich cultural, natural, and historic heritage. Whether it’s delving into the archives, visiting heritage sites, or engaging with the community, your work will ensure that the ACT’s heritage is recognised, protected, and celebrated for generations to come.

This is not just another job—it’s a chance to:

  • Be part of something meaningful: Shape the future of heritage conservation in the ACT by researching and assessing places and objects that hold heritage significance, including Aboriginal, history and natural sites and objects.
  • Engage with the community: Work directly with property owners, nominators, and heritage experts to influence decisions that impact Canberra’s heritage.
  • Enjoy flexibility and autonomy: With hybrid work arrangements and the ability to set your own schedule around field visits and research, this role offers a great balance of professional and personal life.
  • Develop your expertise: Whether you’re a seasoned heritage professional or have relevant experience in fields like architecture, history, or archaeology, this role offers opportunities for growth and learning.
  • Make a visible impact: Your efforts will contribute to the safeguarding of heritage places and objects that define Canberra’s identity, making your work directly beneficial to the community.

Based in a flexible, activity-based work environment in Dickson, you’ll have the flexibility to work remotely, collaborate with passionate colleagues, and see the results of your work unfold across the Territory.

If you’re ready to combine your research skills, love of storytelling, and dedication to community engagement, we want to hear from you!
