We are looking for a professional with experience in the environmental and sustainability and/or education fields to join our team as Environmental Education Officer. The primary function is the preparation and delivery of an environmental education program to promote and support community based sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives.

In this role you will apply your knowledge in attending and presenting at schools, community groups and other organisations to promote the City’s initiatives around waste, sustainability and the environment, and delivery of community education and engagement measures on waste avoidance, separation and management, including investigation of new initiatives.

A degree in education, sustainable development, environmental science, or equivalent and / or significant experience in a similar role, current Working with Children Card and an unrestricted ‘C’ class driver’s licence are essential.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:

  1. Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  2. Working knowledge of sustainability principles, circular economy, sustainable development, behaviour change, resource recovery bushland and wetland conservation principles and environmental best practice and management
  3. Working knowledge of waste legislation, waste management systems, and waste education issues
  4. Familiarity with the use of contemporary communication platforms
  5. Experience in the preparation and delivery of environmental education programs presenting to schools, community groups, business groups and Council

We are offering a gross salary commencing at $87,585 per annum and:

  • 11.5% superannuation with the opportunity to co-contribute up to 5%
