About the role

As a Field Officer, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of the Three Capes Track and Fortescue Bay. Reporting to the Ranger in Charge, you’ll:

  • Maintain minor construction of infrastructure, buildings and equipment.
  • Supervise and support employees and volunteers in operational tasks.
  • Operate and maintain machinery, plant, and equipment safely.
  • Assist visitors with information, advice, and safety guidance.
  • Work and stay on track for extended periods of up to 10 days.
  • Undertake fire operations, risk management, and enforcement of park regulations.

The role involves regular outdoor work, remote locations, and rostered overnight stays at track accommodation nodes.

Essential requirements

  • Successful completion of the fitness assessment at the “Arduous “level (4.83km walk carrying 20.5kg in 45 minutes or less).
  • Workplace Level 2 First Aid qualification.
  • A current motor vehicle drivers’ licence.

Desirable requirements

  • A Trade Certificate in a discipline relevant to the duties.
  • Remote Area or Wilderness First Aid qualification.
