Our Outdoor Education Program covers students from Prep through to Year 11 and supports the delivery of programs to ELC and Year 12 students. The program is fully mobile and involves a variety of journeys of differing lengths across varying locations both nationally and internationally.
The role
Reporting to the Head of Outdoor Education, Operations, the Outdoor Education Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all allocated outdoor education programs are planned and implemented, with guidance from others in the team, in an efficient and safe manner. This includes, but is not limited to, the program outline, logistics, organising equipment, determining staffing requirements and managing staff in the field. In addition, the Program Coordinator is responsible for the students whilst en-route and in the field.
This rare part time opportunity will be 0.4FTE (2 days per week) from 5 October 2026 to 25 March 2027. Please note: this role will work 4 October to 18 December 2026 (11 weeks) and 12 January to 25 March 2027 (11 weeks).
To be successful and thrive in this position you will require:
- Qualifications in Outdoor Education, or similar. Currently being enrolled in, or working towards a Diploma of Outdoor Recreation, would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience working in Outdoor Education programs in a school context.
- Experience leading groups of mixed ability and aged children, with an understanding of adolescent and childhood behaviour management.
- High levels of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire others.
- Understanding and experience in crisis management, with a proven record of successfully handling complex issues arising from an Outdoor Education program.
- Proficient computing skills in standard Microsoft office applications and use of ICT in relation to Outdoor Education.
- Experience in journey and centre based outdoor education (in Primary and/or Secondary year levels) would be advantageous.
A current Working with Children Check is essential for this position. Should you not have a current check, you would be expected to apply for one should you be successful in securing the position.
