Trinity Anglican School is seeking applications for an Outdoor Education Teacher to join our award-winning Outdoor Education team, located in the beautiful tropical city of Cairns.

Qualifications, experience and licenses

  • Current Registration or able to be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use a variety of software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, and TASS
  • Current Queensland driver’s licence
  • Current Queensland LR driver licence or higher
  • Current Wilderness First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Current Swift Water rescue certificate or equivalent
  • Current Vertical rescue certificate or equivalent
  • Experience in remote hiking and bushwalking, canoeing and kayaking on flat water and grade I and II moving water, abseiling, climbing natural and manmade surfaces and structures, caving, mountain biking, navigation, high and low ropes, camp site management including catering and hygiene, staff and student management and facilitation, driving 4wd vehicles and LR/MR buses, record keeping for results/assessment, petty cash reconciliation, logistical organisation and extended expedition skills in group/staff management.

Whilst implementing ‘best practice’ curriculum in teaching areas to support the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of the students, you will work collaboratively to achieve the aims and objectives of the school and develop cooperative relationships that ensure the smooth operation of the Secondary School.

In addition to a strong commitment to continuous improvement in conjunction with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL), you will apply the Art and Science of Teaching (ASOT) by Robert Marzano and Essential Skills of Classroom Management (ESCM) which underpin the school’s pedagogical management approach.
