Christ Church Grammar School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Outdoor Recreation Trainee to join our dedicated team at Kooringal, our purpose-built Outdoor Education Centre nestled in the jarrah forest near Dwellingup.

This is a unique opportunity to live and work in nature, gain nationally recognised qualifications, and be part of a transformative educational experience for students aged 10–17.

About Us

Christ Church Grammar School is a leading Anglican day and boarding school for boys from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, located in Claremont, Perth. Our Outdoor Education program is a cornerstone of our holistic approach to learning, offering immersive, journey-based experiences in natural settings across Western Australia.

The Role

As an Outdoor Education Trainee, you will:

  • Assist in delivering outdoor education and recreation activities including canoeing, kayaking, bushwalking, abseiling, high ropes, and environmental education
  • Support centre operations including catering, equipment and grounds maintenance, and vehicle driving
  • Work closely with students in a residential setting, acting as a positive role model and ensuring their safety and wellbeing

What You’ll Need

  • A genuine interest in working with young people in outdoor environments
  • Completion of Year 12
  • A current Australian driver’s licence (manual preferred)
  • A valid Working with Children Check, National Police Certificate (issued within the last 6 months) and eligibility to work in Australia
  • Willingness to live on-site at Kooringal and work flexible hours

Training and development may including:

  • Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation
  • Wilderness First Aid
  • Bronze Medallion / Aquatic Rescue
  • Defensive gravel driving
  • Swift Water Rescue
  • Canoeing and kayaking qualifications
