AO7 Principal Ranger – Permanent

The role: Leads operations and conservation efforts on QPWS-managed lands in the Townsville, Airlie Beach, Blackall, Longreach, Hughenden, Charters Towers, western Gulf and Birdsville districts. Turns strategic vision into hands-on impact. Guides teams in safeguarding natural and cultural treasures. Drives innovation.

As Principal Ranger, you will:

  • Develop and implement business and operational plans to effectively manage QPWS estate within the Central West Area.
  • Ensure operations support and deliver upon QPWS’s strategic direction and commitments.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team and coordinate multiple projects concurrently.
  • Effectively manage staff and resources across a large, geographically-dispersed area.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and participate in committees, boards and at other meetings relevant to operational business.
  • Provide precise and effective financial administration.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely input of data into divisional and regional information systems.
  • Report on the progress and outcomes of operational activities and projects.
  • Ensure operational activities are compliant with legislative obligations and statutory requirements.
  • Provide high-level support to the Regional Director.
  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people.
