Seeking an energetic and enthusiastic permanent operational ranger for the Southern Mulga Work Unit located at Currawinya National Park
The OO4 Ranger works under the Ranger in Charge and OO5 Ranger and assists in the delivery of operational work programs within the Southern Mulga work unit, which includes Currawinya, Lake Bindegolly and Binya national parks. The position works within a small team that works collaboratively with park neighbours, First Nations partners, researchers and key stakeholders to achieve park management objectives and conservation outcomes.
The position is responsible for the maintenance of park infrastructure, such as camping areas, signage, predator proof enclosures; and undertakes administrative and reporting functions. A key focus of this role is undertaking feral animal and weed control activities and other natural resource management projects. A reasonable degree of physical fitness is required for this position.
Given the remote nature of the work unit, it is essential that the OO4 Ranger is self-sufficient, has practical skills, uses initiative, can be resourceful and is comfortable being isolated for extended periods.
Accommodation is provided at the Currawinya National Park ranger base.
