About Parks Victoria

Parks Victoria is responsible for managing a diverse estate of more than 4 million hectares including 3,000 land and marine parks and reserves making up 18 per cent of Victoria’s landmass, 75 per cent of Victoria’s wetlands and 70 per cent of Victoria’s coastline. Victoria’s parks are home to more than 4,300 native plants and around 1,000 native animal species.

About the role

As the Ranger Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting a team of Rangers in providing exceptional experiences for visitors to Victoria’s parks and reserves. As a Ranger Team Leader, you are responsible for leading the on-ground management of Parks Victoria’s estate, consistent with organisational priorities, policies and procedures, ensuring that people can enjoy the outdoors and protecting the things that make our parks and reserves so special.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Relevant qualifications and skills for the management of the Parks Victoria estate, such as environmental science, natural resource management, conservation and land management, outdoor education, community engagement, or a relevant trade
  • Demonstrated experience and a record of achievement working as a Ranger or in an equivalent natural resource management role
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal communication, including the ability to explain concepts to people of different backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and support staff, allocate workloads, and manage budgets and other resources to deliver agreed outcomes
