About the Role

The Site Interpreter undertakes interpreted guided tours for the general public and educational programs for schools. The role also includes some site management functions, such as facilities servicing, bookings management and some grounds keeping tasks.

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to present information with an artistic flair are essential as part of the role.

This position will be primarily seasonal but may be expanded upon. A willingness to work school and public holidays, along with long weekends, is essential.

Contract:
Contract is up to 12 months
Two positions available — one based in Naracoorte, and one based in Tantanoola.

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
  • A current class ‘C’ driver’s licence is essential and a willingness and ability to operate a 4wd is highly desirable.
  • Located at either the Naracoorte Caves National Park and/or Tantanoola Caves Conservation Park.
  • Required to work a roster including weekends and public holidays. Hours of work vary according to the operational needs of the business centre and the incumbent may be required to work at short notice.
  • A current first aid certificate is highly desirable.
  • Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check.
  • Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to provide a Department of Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.  [DEW will cover the cost of renewal]
  • Wearing a company uniform during working hours and/or when representing the department is mandatory.
  • You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.
