Salary: $82,344 pa. (HEW 5) (pro-rata) plus up to 17% super

About the role
You will be responsible for providing technical support, advice and services in practical student learning environments to staff and students across various disciplines in higher education. You will be required to have sound technical and safety management knowledge in a range of outdoor recreation pursuits and field trip locations. In addition, you will take responsibility for organising extensive field trip activities, coordinating physical resources and ensuring high quality risk management for all field trips in outdoor education programs.
You will:
- maintain accurate records of individual laboratory, workshop field trip and other space maintained by technical services;
- ensure technical equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s requirements;
- liaise with relevant academic staff in order to ensure the smooth operations of the SPOE programs; and
- complete risk assessments for all laboratory, workshop, fieldtrip, and other space maintained by technical services activities and equipment ensuring compliance.
About you
Reporting to Senior Technical Officer, you will support students and work collaboratively with academic staff to assist in the conduct of major experiments, field trips, research and set up and monitor standard experiments and equipment.
You will possess:
- experience in providing technical support services for teaching spaces;
- experience in coordinating the preparation, organisation and distribution of equipment, consumables and materials;
- knowledge and application of OH&S and EH&S responsibilities in teaching settings;
- ability to support academic staff with experimental designs and equipment; and
- ability to document and maintain a range of accurate technical records.
