Overview

Remuneration: $65,000 -$70,000 pa. (pro rata) + Super + Field allowances + On Call allowances
Permanent Full-Time with opportunities for travel

Tasmanian Expeditions are currently seeking a professional, passionate and experienced trip coordinator to join our Launceston based operations team for an immediate start.

The Trip Coordinator role is a genuine all-rounder position within a small, close-knit team. You’ll work alongside the Operations Manager across every part of the business – occasionally guiding in the field, running logistics, maintaining vehicles and gear, supporting guests and handling administration – and step up to act as Operations Manager whenever they are away. It’s a role for someone who wants to help shape the next chapter of adventure travel in Tasmania and is happy to turn their hand to whatever the day requires.

As Trip Coordinator, you’ll take ownership of the engine room of our Tasmanian operation: self-guided trips, the vehicle fleet, gear, the shed and bulk food supply. You’ll also work alongside the Operations Manager on everything else, from bookings and rosters to safety, training and the on-call phone. When needed, you’ll be out in the field guiding, driving, running transfers and doing food drops.

If you love variety, thrive on responsibility and are happy to go from fixing a tent to briefing a client to sorting a fleet movement all before lunch, this is the role for you

Principal accountabilities include:

  • Take primary responsibility for self-guided trips, including bookings, permits, gear, food and clientbriefings.
  • Keep our fleet on the road, handling servicing, registrations, Fleetio records and outfitting.
  • Own our gear and shed, covering repairs, stocktakes, ordering and our gear hire partnership.
  • Order and manage bulk food for food drops, expeditions, cabin and school trips.
  • Prepare trip folders, manifests and parks passes for every departure.
  • Share the on-call role and act as Operations Manager in their absence.
  • Fill guiding and driving roles as needed, and support other Tasmanian bases in the off-season.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An experienced outdoor guide with a solid grounding in trip logistics.
  • A genuine all-rounder, happy to pitch in wherever needed – from the field to the shed to the office.
  • Confident making sound decisions and leading the team when the Operations Manager is away.
  • Impeccably organised, practical and handy with gear and vehicle repairs.
  • Comfortable with booking systems and fleet software (FileMaker or Fleetio experience a bonus).
  • Passionate about safe, sustainable and responsible adventure travel.
  • Multi-day rafting experience, particularly on the Franklin River, will be highly regarded.
  • Essential: Cert IV in adventure guiding/outdoor education (or similar), Wilderness First Aid, manual LR licence, public passenger endorsement (or ability to obtain in TAS) and a food safety certificate
