Tanglin is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outdoor Education (OE) Leader to join our team at the Rawson Campus. This unique 5-week residential experiential learning program for Year 9 students focuses on developing curiosity, confidence and community in the students that come from Singapore to live and learn in the Victorian High Country.

As the OE Leader, you will be responsible for supporting  teachers in all aspects of the hiking program, including trip planning, risk management, logistics and leading trips.  Additional responsibilities when working onsite will include teaching bushcraft skills, use of hiking equipment and supporting the residential program by providing student supervision, leading activities and developing life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead all aspects of the campus hiking program
  • Teaching bushcraft and camping skills
  • Prepare, distribute, clean and repair hiking equipment
  • Contribute to the development of the outdoor education components of new campus programs
  • Ensure the physical, emotional, and psychological safety of all participants
  • Deliver engaging learning experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence and community in and through the natural world.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum of Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation or Leadership (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading outdoor education or adventure-based programs
  • High level of attention to detail in administration and planning
  • Solid understanding of outdoor education risk assessments and management plans
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

Desirable

  • Working With Children Check (required)
  • Current First Aid and Remote Areas First Aid certificates (highly regarded)
  • Bronze Medallion (highly regarded)
  • Unrestricted driver’s licence (MR licence highly regarded).
